Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) serves as the premier institution in Kerala, fostering the agriculture and allied sectors in the state through technical and technological expertise. The institution integrates key sectors of agricultural education, research and extension services for the sustainable development of the state of Kerala. KAU has released high yielding varieties and production systems in spice crops to meet growing demands of the farmers. The university been providing recommendations on the policy of marketing and trade of spices depending on the price volatility and international trade. The College of Agriculture (CoA), Vellayani, established in May 1955, is the leading centre for undergraduate and postgraduate agricultural education in Kerala. Nestled within the grandeur of history, the present-day college finds its abode within the majestic edifice of the "Lalindloch" Palace, a cherished possession of the Royal Family of erstwhile Travancore-Cochin State. Surrounded by the idyllic charm of the Vellayani lake, a picturesque fresh water body, the college occupies 250 hectares of campus with a serenity and inspiration, befitting a cradle of knowledge.
